Last Post

This will be my last post to this site.  I have pretty much, permanently moved to "myspace". I rarely ever check this and I have a hard enough time keeping up with the one, much less two.

You can view my myspace and keep up with me by going to the following address:  http://myspace.com/valpal819

In order to contact me, however, you will need a myspace account. It's pretty easy to get one. If not...my "space" contains a place where you can reach me via yahoo. Scroll through and look for it.

Peace to all...
Many Blessings!

Death Sucks...then there is a wedding!

Here's the Skinny....

Recently I was blessed to be able to attend a wedding. This wedding was that of a young lady that I like to call my other daughter. I met Jamie at camp. Summit Camp to be precise. I have known her about four or five years. She, Rendy and Ashli are my girls from camp. (SERIVICE AT 9! Had to be there for that one) They all hail from Antlers, America! (big shout out to the City of Antlers) Today was my first time ever being in Antlers.

Anyway……

The wedding was a wonderful ending to this year of 2006. Most all of '06 was good. The best highlight being the birth of A.J. That was in April. Everything from then to the present seems pretty blurry. However, one thing stands out now. My step-father of 37 years passed away pretty unexpectedly. I would say that the two of us were pretty close. He met and married my mom when I was like five years old. I didn't always understand him, but I loved him very much. He took good care of my brother and me and always made sure that we had the things we needed for school and also made sure we had a roof over our head, clothes on our backs and medical bills taken care of. In my younger years I was truly afraid of him. He was a military man…very proud, very by the book and strict. I needed it. I have come to really appreciate who he was. My later years showed me who he really was and that under that military strictness was a man with a huge heart.  I would call him up if I was having car trouble. He would talk to me as long as I needed him to talk. He would talk your ear off too if you happened to be talking to him about a subject that he really liked or knew something about. Gosh…I sure am going to miss him. If you are reading this and you are from a blended family, then you know how difficult step-parents can be…but he truly was not the norm. Most step-parents get a bad rap. I assure you…the bad ones are the minority. They have such a difficult task that they undertake.

My mother really does miss him and I pray for her to find strength to carry on and not let the grief weigh her down. He pretty much was her world. Death sucks! There is never a good time. Christmas time has to be one of the worst. But I have to remember that it should be a time of celebration. He is now in a place that we can only dream about for now. How much happier he must be living up there with Jesus. No pain, no sorrow! Kinda makes you jealous if you think about it.

So…thank you Michael and Jamie Silva for inviting me to be a part of your special day and to provide a much needed blessed event to end this year with.  I hope that 2007 will be a year of GREAT memories. I truly have so much to be thankful for.  Don't forget to count and thank God for your blessings…and while you are at it…thank Him for the not so good things in your life as well. Everything happens for HIS purpose. Bad things are hard…but in the end, you will find the good.

Do you Believe in Angels

This was a blog that I posted on my 'myspace'. It was about a month back...but thought I would post it here too. Just a good blog to show how much God is taking care of us!

Do you believe in Angels?
Current mood: In Awe
Category:
Religion and Philosophy

Let's talk about Angels!

Do you believe in them? Do you think they exist out there? Do you think that we are given a guardian angel to guide and protect us?

I DO!  Let me walk you through a story of absolute proof that angels do exist.

Last Friday...my husband (Chris) and my son (Andrew) were wrestling around with each other. Messing around in the house. Side note: I protest to this all the time...I have always said, someone will get hurt or something broken. Okay...so, I'm in the bathroom, taking care of my business and all of the sudden, I hear this loud crash!!! Then, silence.......................................then....a horrible cry from my infant child. Yes, I am freaking out...mind you, I am still taking care of my business. I scream..."What happened!" .....nothing.......I scream again........nothing still........then after the third scream while I am rushing to finish said business...I hear, "hurry honey". So I rush out of the bathroom to see on the floor a crushed walker. (A.J.'s) Chris has the baby...he is still crying. I keep inquiring to what happened. Chris just keeps telling me we need to take him to get checked out.

Okay....make this story short...........(too late)

The wrestling match turned sour and Andrew lost his balance only to land right on top of A.J. We took him to the ER and had X-Rays. This child had no bruises...no broken bones...no internal injuries........now, tell me that there are no such things as angels! What else could explain this miracle? I believe his guardian angel swiftly flew between he and Andrew to protect him.

So yes, I believe in Angels...I really do. And I hope that you do too. They are there...they are protecting us.

Be blessed,

Val

7 Plus Months

I L♥VE THIS KID!!!
A.J. is now a little more than 7 months old. He is such a joy and I can't seem to get enough of him. God has been so good to us and has blessed us over and over.

He got sick for the first time this last weekend. Nothing big...I think it was just some viral infection. He was kinda tugging at his ears...but when I took him to the doctor, doc said ears were perfectly normal. Whew! That's a big relief. Ear infections can be so difficult.
My other kids had many of them through their toddler years. Only a few since then. I am so lucky. He is such a healthy and happy baby. Like I said.....VERY BLESSED!

Well, just wanted to update this site. I still spend all my time with myspace...but drop in here every once in awhile to see what is going on.

Hope you are blessed too!

6 Months

Wow...it has been 6 months. Yep...the boy is now 6 plus months old. We are now half way to the big One Year!  It is so hard to believe.  He is still such a joy to have and such a blessing to us. He is truly a happy baby. I am so glad for that. I know people who have babies that aren't so happy.  We have not had any trouble with him. He has not been sick...no colic or any other problems.  God is Good!

I don't get on here much more to update...I spend most of my time on 'Myspace'.  Like I have said before...I have a ton more friends and aquaintences on there than I do here. It is easier to use in the way of speed. This thing seems to take forever sometimes.  I can add a lot of fun stuff to my 'myspace' that I can't to this one. I can come close...but I don't like the layouts they provide for you on here. That's MSN for you. Make it complicated and boring all at the same time!  LOL

Okay, just updating on here to keep those that do still occasionaly visit.  Enjoy the new pics of A.J. He is growing up so stinking fast!

Blessings to you,
~Val~

Tired of MSN

Well,
I am officially tired of MSN.  The new look and changes are stupid. It's like they are trying to compete with "myspace" but don't offer near the fun stuff that you can do to spice up your space. I know a lot more people, friends on myspace and have a lot more fun with it.  So....with that said, I am moving.  Well, I already moved pretty much...but I thought I would make this official. I am not going to delete this space as of yet. If you are interested in being a part of my space on "myspace"...then you will have to know some personal info on me to be added as a friend.  Leave me a message here and I will make sure you know that info if you don't already know it.

It's been a trip!  Stop by and visit my space.

My how time does fly

My, My...how time flies.  This little man of mine is growing up so fast. He will turn 4 months old on August 9th. Can't hardly believe it. He is just so cute and such a joy to have. He is really keeping me busy and on my toes.

I have started going to the chiropractor for the first time in my life.  I have always had some neck problems...but after A.J. was born...I have been having some horrible lower back pains. It appears...after I took some x-rays that things didn't quite go back to normal after delivery.  You see, your spine pushes back to allow more room for growing baby. After deliver, in theory...all goes back to normal.  Not me.  My spine is still cocked back in the other position.  Needless to say, I hurt.  But...the chiropractor is making it better. He is also working on my neck.  I am hoping that after some more visits...which will be several as I am pretty messed up...that I will be feeling much better.  He also says he can take care of my awful migraines of which I have suffered from for years and years. We will see....I am excited at the idea that it can be done. Pray for me...I want to be healed. He is an excellent D.O. and I have complete faith in him.

Well, back to the grindstone. Have a great week and don't forget to thank God for all you have been blessed with.  Oh yes, and enjoy the new pictures of my sweetie!

New Photos

I have placed some new photos of the boy in the photo album.  He is three months old now....CAN YOU BELIEVE IT????

Yeah, I have a hard time believing it for sure.  He is just growing up so fast.  Such a little cutie patootie.  I know I don't do much on this site anymore...but I don't do much on the other one either...just don't seem to have the extra time.  I do check your spaces out when I can...hope you are all doing great and enjoying the summer.

Be careful out there....don't forget to thank God for all you have and be sure to thank Him for what you don't have too....in all things, Give Thanks!

Blessings,

Second Site

Hey folks,

Just letting you know that I have also created me a space on the good ole “myspace”.com…  http://myspace.com/valpal819

I know a lot more people that frequent that site and you can do some cooler things with it.  A lot of my ministry kids and adults are on that site and I kinda like it better. Yea, I know…there are a lot of young ones on there…but like I said…it seems a little more fun and active.

I will keep this one up and running as well…just letting you know you can find me in more than one place…………………..yea, like I have time for two spaces….can hardly keep up with this one!!! LOL

Blessings,

Catch ya later,

Two Months Old Today!

Well folks...I am still here and I keep adding pictures as I go.  I know I haven't written much of late...but I do stay busy with my little man.

Today marks A.J.'s two month birthday.  Doesn't seem like it has already been that long.  We went to the doctor for a well baby check and his first round of immunizations. Yuck!  I hate them...and honestly I wish he didn't have to have them. For the most part they are not necessary, but nowadays...you can't be too careful.  They have added a new one even..."pneumococcal conjugate"  ( gesundheit!!!!)  Yeah, I know...it is truly a crazy sounding one huh?  the pneumococcal infection can cause such things as meningitis, blood infections and ear infections.  It can also lead to pneumonia, deafness and brain damage.  Who knew? It just seems like there are so many of them out there now.  Including one for chicken pox.  I had to indure that crazy one!

I added a couple of pictures today.  One was taken with his daddy. His arms are hold up the air...it is such a cute pose.  The other is with one of our dogs, Tinker.  We have two mini-daschunds. We got Tinker first. I worried how they would handle the baby and all.  I guess by looking at the picture, you can see how Tink feels about him.  I titled the pic, "Puppy Love".  Very appropriate I think.  I will keep adding pictures as we go along in this new adventure.

Hope all is going well for all of you out there.  I still blog hop around a bit...not as much as I used to...but I do still try to keep myself updated by what is going on in your worlds.  Take care, enjoy your weekend and never forget to count your blessings!

Still Eating for Two!!!

Sunday afternoon...and I am sitting here eating a peanut butter and banana sandwhich....yeah...it really is good.  I am not real keen on jelly with my PB...but I will go to town on a PB and banana sandwhich any day. The only problem is, I like to put a lot! of peanut butter on my sandwhich.  You see...because I am breast feeding, I have to keep my calorie count up.  This is not hard for me to do...but I was beginning to look really good having just had a baby 6 weeks ago...now...I am putting the weight back on.  I pretty much think it is the PB and B sandwhiches.  He eats like a horse...and it really takes a lot out of me...so I am hungry all the time too.  You know...I felt so much better when I had gone Veggie...I think I will go back on that diet real soon.  I just can't do it while I am breast feeding.  Not sure if I can get all the nutrients that he needs.  The other big thing is water.  Yeah, I don't drink enough water.  It is key for milk production...and I have to force myself to drink enough.  I keep this big mug thing next to the rocker where I sit to feed him.  I just sip on it while I am nursing.  I try very hard to finish it before laying him down. The mug...or should I say jug, is 30 ounces.  It is a lot of water in one sitting for someone who doesn't drink water on a regular basis.  But I sure do need it!

Four more days of school around here.  My next to the youngest is more than ready!  He has been ready since Christmas break.  Summer has always been very busy for us. Since my husband is in the ministry, we are always tied up in camps and other things that are church related.  I work as a head staffer at one camp.  I won't be going this year.  I am sad...truly sad.  I shall miss it so much.  I absolutely love camp!  I enjoy more than anything seeing the  lives of teens and adults too changed.

Well, better close this out as I hear the baby waking up.. Time to eat!  Good thing I just finished a PB and B sandwhich.  He is hungry!!!!!   LOL

Blessings to you all and

Checking in

Hello one and all,

I am still hanging out around here.  I have been very busy with the baby and all.  He is such a precious thing.  He is truly a good baby, only cries when he needs something. You know...eat, binky, tummy ache.  I can actually tell what each different cry means.  It is funny...when he is hungry, his cry almost sounds as if he is saying...HUN..GEEEE, like hungry, but he is crying and it comes out like that.  So cute.

I will have some more updated pictures soon.  Haven't really taken that many...I keep my cell phone on me all the time...so I snap a photo with that when I see a cute pose. I sure do need to put some batteries in my digital camera!

Hope all of you are doing well and I wish many blessings for you as well.

Hard to keep up

Well,
I knew this day would come.  I am so wrapped up and in love with my new son, that I can't really keep up with this thing.  I want to keep my space, but I honestly do not have the time to come and update on a regular basis.  I think I will use it to update when there is something really big or at least once a month.  I don't have a lot of regular visitors anyway...much love to you out there that do check in regular.  I just have other things to focus on right now and this is not nearly as important.  Like I said, I do want to keep my space, and I will update on here occasionally.  I will put up pictures of the baby and how much he grows...which is already quite a bit.  He grew a whole inch in one week!  Yeah, I couldn't believe it either. He is soooo precious. His older siblings adore him as well.  He is a true blessing.

So...with all that said.  I will close this out until I update again.  In the mean time...enjoy the photos of my entire family and of course, the new addition. Be careful out there...visit when you can...drop a note to update me on your life as well.

Blessings!

He is here!

April 9, 2006
12:43 PM
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

Adriel Jonathan Gray arrives on the scene.  Weighing in at a whopping 9 lbs and 1 oz and 19 1/2 inches long!  Our little man finally said, "Here I am!"
I was going to try and let you know when I was going in...but it just didn't work that way.  I am excited, because my daughter was able to be here...and it all worked out according to God's magnificent plan. I was not expecting him to be so big!!!  But he is a picture of health and what a blessing he has already been!  WOW! I can't believe I have a baby in my house again.

I won't make this long. Just making the announcement about my boy.  Hope everyone is having a great week and that you have a blessed weekend!

Big smiles to everyone!

Long...but very very good!

DON'T LEAVE IT ON THE DESK!

There was a certain Professor of Religion named Dr Christianson, a studious man who taught at a small college in the western United States.

Dr. Christianson taught the required survey course in Christianity at this particular institution. Every student was required to take this course his or her freshman year, regardless of his or her major.

Although Dr Christianson tried hard to communicate the essence of the gospel in his class, he found that most of his students looked upon the course as nothing but required drudgery. Despite his best efforts, most students refused to take Christianity seriously.

This year, Dr. Christianson had a special student named Steve.

Steve was only a freshman, but was studying with the intent of going onto seminary for the ministry. Steve was popular, he was well liked, and he was an imposing physical specimen. He was now the starting center on the school football team, and was the best student in the professor's class. One day, Dr. Christianson asked Steve to stay after class so he could talk with him.

"How many push-ups can you do?

Steve said, "I do about 200 every night."

"200? That's pretty good, Steve," Dr. Christianson said. Do you think you could do 300?"

Steve replied, " don't know... I've never done 300 at a time."

"Do you think you could?" again asked Dr. Christianson.

"Well, I can try," said Steve.

"Can you do 300 in sets of 10? I have a class project in mind and I need you to do about 300 push-ups in sets of ten for this to work. Can you do it? I need you to tell me you can do it," said the professor.

Steve said, "Well... I think I can...yeah, I can do it!"

Dr. Christianson said, "Good! I need you to do this on Friday.

Let me explain what I have in mind."

Friday came and Steve got to class early and sat in the front of the room. When class started, the professor pulled out a big box of donuts.

No, these weren't the normal kinds of donuts, they were the extra fancy BIG kind, with cream centers and frosting swirls. Everyone was pretty excited it was Friday, the last class of the day, and they were going to get an early start on the weekend with a party in Dr. Christianson's class.

Dr. Christianson went to the first girl in the first row and asked, "Cynthia, do you want to have one of these donuts?"

Cynthia said, "Yes."

Dr. Christianson then turned to Steve and asked, "Steve, would you do ten push-ups so that Cynthia can have a donut?"

"Sure." Steve jumped down from his desk to do a quick ten. Then Steve again sat in his desk. Dr. Christianson put a donut on Cynthia's desk.

Dr. Christianson then went to Joe, the next person, and asked, "Joe, do you want a donut?"

Joe said, "Yes." Dr. Christianson asked, "Steve would you do ten push-ups so Joe can have a donut?"

Steve did ten push-ups, Joe got a donut. And so it went, down the first aisle, Steve did ten pushups for every person before they got their donut.

Walking down the second aisle, Dr. Christianson came to Scott.

Scott was on the basketball team, and in as good condition as Steve. He was very popular and never lacking for female companionship.

When the professor asked, "Scott do you want a donut?"

Scott's reply was, "Well, can I do my own pushups?"

Dr. Christianson said, "No, Steve has to do them."

Then Scott said, "Well, I don't want one then."

Dr. Christianson shrugged and then turned to Steve and asked, "Steve, would you do ten pushups so Scott can have a donut he doesn't want?"

With perfect obedience Steve started to do ten pushups.

Scott said, "HEY! I said I didn't want one!" Dr.

Christianson said,

"Look, this is my classroom, my class, my desks, and these are my donuts. Just leave it on the desk if you don't want it." And he put a donut on Scott's desk.

Now by this time, Steve had begun to slow down a little. He just stayed on the floor between sets because it took too much effort to be getting up and down. You could start to see a little perspiration coming out around his brow.

Dr. Christianson started down the third row. Now the students were beginning to get a little angry. Dr. Christianson asked Jenny, "Jenny, do you want a donut?"

Sternly, Jenny said, "No!"

Then Dr. Christianson asked Steve, "Steve, would you do ten more push-ups so Jenny can have a donut that she doesn't want?" Steve did ten....Jenny got a donut.

By now, a growing sense of uneasiness filled the room. The students were beginning to say "No", and there were all these uneaten donuts on the desks.

Steve also had to really put forth a lot of extra effort to get these pushups done for each donut. There began to be a small pool of sweat on the floor beneath his face, his arms and brow were beginning to get red because of the physical effort involved.

Dr. Christianson asked Robert, who was the most vocal unbeliever in the class, to watch Steve do each push up to make sure he did the full ten pushups in a set because he couldn't bear to watch all of Steve's work for all of those uneaten donuts. He sent Robert over to where Steve was so Robert could count the set and watch Steve closely.

Dr. Christianson started down the fourth row. During his class, however, some students from other classes had wandered in and sat down on the steps along the radiators that ran down the sides of the room. When the professor realized this, he did a quick count and saw that now there were 34 students in the room. He started to worry if Steve would be able to make it.

Dr. Christianson went on to the next person and the next and the next.

Near the end of that row, Steve was really having a rough time.

He

was taking a lot more time to complete each set.

Steve asked Dr Christianson, "Do I have to make my nose touch on each one?"

Dr. Christianson thought for a moment, "Well, they're your pushups.

You are in charge now. You can do them any way that you want." And Dr.

Christianson went on.

A few moments later, Jason, a recent transfer student, came to the room and was about to come in when all the students yelled in one voice, "NO! Don't come in! Stay out!"

Jason didn't know what was going on. Steve picked up his head and said, "No, let him come."

Professor Christianson said, "You realize that if Jason comes in you will have to do ten pushups for him?"

Steve said, "Yes, let him come in. Give him a donut."

Dr. Christianson said, "Okay, Steve, I'll let you get Jason's out of the way right now. Jason, do you want a donut?"

Jason, new to the room, hardly knew what was going on. "Yes," he said, "give me a donut."

"Steve, will you do ten push-ups so that Jason can have a donut?"

Steve did ten pushups very slowly and with great effort. Jason, bewildered, was handed a donut and sat down.

Dr. Christianson finished the fourth row, and then started on those visitors seated by the heaters. Steve's arms were now shaking with each push-up in a struggle to lift himself against the force of gravity. By this time sweat was profusely dropping off of his face, there was no sound except his heavy breathing; there was not a dry eye in the room.

The very last two students in the room were two young women, both cheerleaders, and very popular. Dr. Christianson went to Linda, the second to last, and asked, "Linda, do you want a doughnut?"

Linda said, very sadly, "No, thank you."

Professor Christianson quietly asked, "Steve, would you do ten push-ups so that Linda can have a donut she doesn't want?" Grunting from the effort, Steve did ten very slow pushups for Linda.

Then Dr Christianson turned to the last girl, Susan. "Susan, do you want a donut?"

Susan, with tears flowing down her face, began to cry. "Dr.

Christianson, why can't I help him?"

Dr. Christianson, with tears of his own, said, "No, Steve has to do it alone, I have given him this task and he is in charge of seeing that everyone has an opportunity for a donut whether they want it or not.

When I

decided to have a party this last day of class, I looked my grade book.

Steve here is the only student with a perfect grade. Everyone else has failed a test, skipped class, or offered me inferior work. Steve told me that in football practice, when a player messes up he must do push-ups.

I

told Steve that none of you could come to my party unless he paid the price by doing your push ups. He and I made a deal for your sakes."

"Steve, would you do ten push-ups so Susan can have a donut?" As Steve very slowly finished his last pushup, with the understanding that he had accomplished all that was required of him, having done 350 pushups, his arms buckled beneath him and he fell to the floor.

Dr. Christianson turned to the room and said.

"And so it was, that our Savior, Jesus Christ, on the cross, plead to the Father, "into thy hands I commend my spirit." With the understanding that He had done everything that was required of Him, He yielded up His life. And like some of those in this room, many of us leave the gift on the desk, uneaten."

Two students helped Steve up off the floor and to a seat, physically exhausted, but wearing a thin smile.

"Well done, good and faithful servant," said the professor, adding "Not all sermons are preached in words."

Turning to his class, the professor said, "My wish is that you might understand and fully comprehend all the riches of grace and mercy that have been given to you through the sacrifice of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

He spared not His only Begotten Son, but gave Him up for us all, for the whole Church, now and forever. Whether or not we choose to accept His gift to us, the price has been paid."

"Wouldn't you be foolish and ungrateful to leave it lying on the desk?"

Share this with someone. It's bound to touch their heart and demonstrate Salvation in a very special way.

"For the Son of Man has come to save that which was lost."

Did some cleaning

Well, I decided to clean up the space a little and add a couple more quote things. Move stuff around.  I have also decided to delete my past blog entries.  So...if you were looking for something in particular. Sooooo Sorrrrrryyyyyy!

It is my way of spring cleaning.  You see, I am getting this nesting instinct thing.  Perhaps I am truly getting close huh?  As I write this...I have been having some pains...but not ones that have been real regular. I am eating some spicy food right now. Probably will only cause my Acid Reflux to be worse tonight that usual.  I also ate quite a bit of pineapple today.  Yeah, believe it or not...they say eating pineapple is a home labor inducer thing. There are many things out there to try.  I am not late...so I don't want to do anything radical.  I mean...I should just let nature take its course, right?  I am just pretty uncomfortable and I don't think this boy has much more space that he can grow in.  So...I am just right at the turning 39 weeks stage. One week away from due date pretty much. So it is not like I am rushing this. Am I?

Okay, well...not much else to report. I will be sure and update if these pains today amount to anything by tomorrow...or the pineapple/spicy food combo does anything.  And of course...as soon as I do have this baby...and get home...I will try to post some pictures of my little man. We can see just how much the ultrasound and the real thing matches.

Blessings to you all!
~Val
